Google Announces May 2020 Core Algorithm Update

Google announced yesterday it released the May 2020 core algorithm update. Core updates impact how Google ranks websites and how Google determines what is the most relevant web page for a specific query.
Google reported that it will take 1 – 2 weeks to fully rollout.

What is a core update?
This is the second core update for 2020. Core updates don’t target anything specific. Overall, this update is to improve Google’s algorithm systems.
What can I expect from this core update?
Much like the last core algorithm update, here is a list on what to expect.
- Widely notable effects (drops or gains) on search rankings.
- Pages that drop in rankings aren’t being penalized, they are being reassessed against other web content.
- Continue to focus on providing the best content for your company.
Knowing when Google updates their core algorithm gives us something to look for if it had to do with a change on your website or something Google changed. This week, we know Google released a core ranking update so we are monitoring for updates and will make recommendations if necessary.
